What parents say...

Alex had been tested in Year 4 for dyslexia and he came out mildly dyslexic for spelling.  He has a poor short term memory, and we were concerned about him going to Senior School with these problems. Alex started off a bit ‘anti’, but now he agrees that his writing is better and the improvement has been commented on by teachers.  We are so pleased he is getting professional help, and are especially pleased that he now see the benefit and is self-motivated. He now is now asking for help with his Maths too!
Mrs D Wilson
Thank you for your lovely card.  You have helped with my creative writing and vocabulary.  I have grown in confidence and I appreciate your help.

GCSE Maths
Alex says ” I learned more in three months than my whole time in the maths classroom at school. I went from dreading it to feeling much better about being there.” This Summer he was overjoyed to find that he had gone from a Grade 2 in his mocks up to a Grade 4 (C) pass in his final exam.
Alex
She loves coming, and sees that it helps her at school.  Her scores are going up all the time and recently she got three class awards in three weeks, she says this is ‘Thanks to you.
Mrs C Walker
Thank you for all your support with our son, Thomas. His hand writing, spelling, maths and reading is progressing beautifully. I would highly recommend your setting to anyone who wishes to give their child a boost or to work on specific learning goals. It has been invaluable. All your tutors are warm, welcoming and professional and Thomas is always made to feel valued. Positive praise and lots of stickers, stamps, rewards, prizes and certificates give that extra special touch to reward and recognise the children’s efforts. Thomas is certainly always proud of his achievements from your centre.
Laura (Thomas’s mum)
I would like to thank you for the enthusiastic way in which you have helped Vicky gain confidence in her abilities to learn.  She has been a different child since coming to you and has a more positive view now!

“Also can I just say a massive thank you too, Ellie was a bit apprehensive before her first session but when she came home last week she was absolutely buzzing, she loved her time spent there and felt so much happier even after just one session. So thank you, she has been so worried about her exams especially English.”
"Thank You."
Thank you so much for helping me with my maths!  I have come along much more in maths lessons at school! Hopefully, depending on whether I need help when I go to Secondary School I might come back again. (I hope so)  Thank you again. Madison.

Albie
Albie had been diagnosed with mild dyslexia and his reading age was around 2 years behind!  The standard in private school is often higher, so we were worried about the Entrance Exams.  Soon after he enrolled he started making rapid progress.  The school say he is now Level  5 in literacy and the teacher can see a lot of difference.  His reading age has shot up and the gaps in maths have been filled in and he has caught up amazingly quickly. It has definitely, definitely made a difference and I have recommended the centre to my friends.
Jilly (Albie’s Mum)
“I would just like to say I have nothing but praise for I Love to Learn and all the tutors, not only has Dottie already improved with her maths work in the time she has been there but her confidence is so much better too. I want to thank you all so much, she has absolutely loved it, and without a doubt I would not hesitate in bringing her back.” Kayleigh (parent) 2021

Do you tutor exam preparation for selective school entrance?

Yes, but please do contact us well in advance to give your child the best chance of success. This will allow time to prepare thoroughly, without too much stress. Parents begin thinking about extra tuition up to 2 years before the exams.

How do I know if my child is having trouble with their school work and what can I do about it?

Parents’ evenings are often the best way to find out if your child is struggling with their studies. You can also try communicating with your child and ask  questions about which areas of Maths and English they struggle with.  Constantly asking for help with homework or refusal to do it, tears and tantrums, can all be telltale signs that the work is  too hard for them. We provide a free educational assessment and will give our professional opinion about where we see your child having difficulty. So, book an assessment today if you want to discuss supporting your child further.

How do I know that my child will improve?

We guarantee to work with your child until they feel confident to flourish and no longer feel daunted by the problematic area. Combined with our expert tutoring, their school work and extra homework from us; your child will feel supported, encouraged and will make progress in the areas you were concerned about.

How long will it take to solve my child’s problem?

Every child is different, so it’s important they come in for a FREE Assessment so we can come up with a plan and goals for them to work towards. There is no contract or obligation to attend for a long period of time, but we’ll regularly provide parental feedback so you know exactly how your child is doing. Every session, that your child attends, is individually planned and adapted to suit their particular needs. We aim to unlock areas of difficulty as soon as we can for each child.

Can you tutor my child with a Special Educational Need?

We are not a SEN centre, but because we tailor our lesson plans to the specific needs of each child we have taught children with diagnosed ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Autism and others in the past.  If your child falls into one of these categories it’s very important you get in touch and set up an interview with us and an assessment. Then, we can establish whether we can effectively tutor your child.

Our Portsmouth Centre has wheelchair access and the use of a disabled toilet. We want to offer the best for all the children we tutor, so this is a very important process.  We are always willing to go the extra mile regardless of any special need. Please call for more details.

Do you tutor from home?

No. All of our tutoring is done in our private tuition centre so your child has access to all of our top learning packages and technology in an optimal learning environment, without any distractions.

How long is each lesson?

Our tutoring lessons are 80 minutes. The lessons are broken up in 10-15 minute activities so your child never gets bored.

What times are the sessions held?

There are a variety of times available; Monday to Thursday and Saturday morning, please get in touch to find out more.

Will my child get homework?

Yes. Homework is an essential part of I Love to Learn Professional Tuition. We are aware of other homework from school, so we only set homework which repeats, practises and consolidates the learning in the session. If you have difficulty getting your child to complete the homework, please speak to us.

How should I help my child during my child’s tuition at I Love to Learn?

Children’s attendance must be regular and punctual. You may wish to inform your child’s teacher that they are attending extra tuition and ask for areas we can focus on during the term. With homework, ensure you set a distraction free environment for your child to learn in and we ask for you not to help them if possible. We want to see how well they are doing when we are not there!
